Spoken word. Shared space. Real connection.

Star CityPoet's Society

It's not a place... it's where poets gather!

Whether you have a notebook full of poems, one line you're brave enough to share, or simply an ear for a good story, there's room for you here.

The next gathering

Good things
are taking shape.

We're building a new Sunday open mic circuit across West Virginia and Northern Virginia. As dates and spaces are confirmed, you'll find them right here.

Your Sunday afternoon

Words spoken.
Stories shared.
Everyone welcome.

Our typical open mic runs from 3:00 to 4:30 PM.
An open invitation

The stage is
yours.

Star City Poet's Society exists to give words a place to land and people a place to belong. You don't need a resume, a published collection, or the perfect delivery. You just need to show up as yourself.

“Whether you're holding a poem or holding space for someone else's, you belong here.”
01

Speak

Bring your own words to the mic. New voices and seasoned poets share the same welcome.

02

Listen

There's no pressure to perform. A good audience helps make the whole gathering possible.

03

Connect

Stay for the poetry, leave knowing a few more people than when you arrived.

First time here?

Here's how
it works.

Our open mics are intentionally simple. No auditions. No experience requirements. Just a friendly space and a microphone.

  • 01 Free to attend, perform, or listen.
  • 02 Sign up in person before or during the event.
  • 03 Enjoy a relaxed five minutes at the microphone.
